DFing and shunning causes 22-yr old to murder friend
by Scully inso i was randomly watching a show on investigation discovery today - the show was called killer next door, and the episode was called murder without motive.. the show is a french-canadian program that has been translated into english, and this particular episode had to do with a homicide that took place in ste-croix-de-lotbiniere, near quebec city, in november 1999 of a young man named victor lemay.. the confessed murderer was his friend, andre roy, then aged 22.. in the year or so that preceded the murder, andre roy had been disfellowshipped from the jws and had, as a result, been kicked out of his parents' home.
he had no social support outside of the jws and had to start making new friends.
the psychologists on the program felt very strongly that the shunning he experienced by the jws in general, and his family in particular, contributed to increasing rage, and that his friend, victor, became a convenient outlet for his rage.

I just want a divorce!
by bornfree123 inhi there, this is my first post, but i've been buzzing around this site for years.. i got married at 18, hubby was 20, i was a regular pioneer and we were talking about serving in bethel.
fast forward - i left in 2004 after a 5 year battle with my conscience, family and friends who kept insisting that i was just "weak and needed to have another bible study".
however hubby and i stayed together although it was kinda on the understanding that we would just not talk about it.

I also wanted to say that if you have the resources, you might hire a Private Investigator to look into HIS social activities.
He is either completely chaste, a masturbator or keeping comany with another person, either male or female. If your P.I. got some goods on him, it might make him far more compliant. He might even find himself sitting in the little room with 3 elders.

This is an old-time JW pig-headed thing.
As a JW, he needs to see you as evil, wicked, and sinful. He wants YOU to lower yourself to meet his wicked standards and commit adultery so that he can condemn you and elevate himself.
But he's behind-the-times, not keeping up wirh Jehovah's ox-cart-like organization. The JWs have invented the "scriptural" excuse for divorce on the basis of one mate being a "spiritual hazard" (or something like that, the precise phrase escapes me noe. Perhaps someone can fill-in the blank here.
The basic idea behind this new idea is that he can divirce you because YOU are a threat to HIS "spirituality."
Don't let yourself be manipulated by him into acting against your own morality OR be tricked into revealing personal information that is none of his business.
His goal is to label you as a whore.

There are other ways of thinking about water.
I say water is one-nineth hydrogen and eight-nineths oxygen, and I am precisely correct, because I am talking about parts by weight, and Sam Harris is talking about parts by volume.
It is important to say what your frame of reference is.
If someone wants to make a blanket statement like "The Bible is not crap" they must realize that they are speaking for themselves or their group. They do not speak for all.
When I say, "The Bible is crap" I am speaking for myself and for others who, like me, do not see the Christian holy book as the inspired word of god.
Jews have no use for the "New Testament."
Most of the other religions in the world do not think the bible is special
Many historians think the bible is an imaginary guide to a world that NEVER existed.
Just because you grew up in a society that hails the bible as the inerrant word of god does not mean that everyone shares your reverence. Even if everyone did share that reverence, if the bible isn't congruent with historical and scientific facts, it does not deserve the respect of intelligent people.
